With Lynn Campbell and Gordon Sharp Lynn and Gordon are both passionate about dance and how embodied, creative movement can enable physical, emotional and artistic well-being. Our work and study is an integration of body work, therapeutic approaches, performance/theatre and shamanic practice. The focus of this course will be our bodies. Their physicality, their connection with our hearts and minds, each other and the wider world. Every day we will awaken the dancer within us through a variety of body practices including: * A deep warm up connecting body with breath supported by live drumming. This will form the beginning body ritual for our day together—a chance to check in with how you’re doing? To gather resources and support for the day and to physically massage, oil and move our bodies with breath and movement. * Moving Meditations that develop our relationship with the Elements of Earth, Fire, Water & Air indoors and in nature. We’ll work with our awareness of the elements as part of our selves and our relationship with them. We’ll dance with the elements as inspiration and resources and think about ways we can access this resource in our everyday lives. * We will also give time for reflective practices including Ritual Theatre, Dream Awareness, Collaborative Mandala Making and creating Personal Rituals for our daily lives. These creative reflections will be an opportunity to integrate our personal and group experiences, our daily lives and the dance practice and our connections to community, environment and the wider world. The details, structure and balance of our sessions will respond to the interests, passions and energy of the group. We strongly believe that all bodies can dance, so we welcome anyone with an interest in and desire to move to join us for this exciting exploration. |
