John Berger, who is best known for his book Ways of Seeing, died on the 2nd January aged 90. He was an author, art critic, painter and poet and had a profound effect on how people perceived art.

His first novel, A Painter of Our Time, was published in 1958 and he won the Booker Prize in 1972 with his novel, G.
