MBE for Ellesmere woman in recognition of conservation work
A woman who has dedicated more than 40 years to nature has been awarded an MBE in recognition of her conservation work in the region.
Dr Joan Daniels, from Colemere, near Ellesmere, travelled to Buckingham Palace for the investiture on Thursday, December 19 to receive the Queen’s award for her continued work for Natural England over four decades.
She said: “I was overwhelmed, it was a very exciting day and completely different from normal life.
“I met Prince Charles, which was wonderful as he does a lot for conservation. He presented me with the award and that made it very special because of all the work he has done.
